Altogether 159 candidates were left in the electoral fray today after withdrawal of nomination papers for the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha election to be held on May 19.
State additional chief electoral officer Sanjay Kumar Singh said that 159 candidates were left in the fray after one candidate each withdrew his nomination from Patna Sahib, Patliputra and Buxar constituencies.
“No candidate from Nalanda, Ara, Sasaram (reserved), Karakat and Jehanabad constituencies withdrew nomination,” he added.
The officer said that altogether 227 candidates had filed their nomination papers for the seventh phase and 162 out of them were found in proper order.
Additional chief electoral officer said 12 candidates are left in the electoral fray in by election to Dehri assembly constituency to be held simultaneously with the seventh phase of Lok Sabha election after a candidate withdrew his nomination paper.
Altogether eight constituencies – Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Ara, Sasaram (reserved), Karakat, Jehanabad and Buxar would go to the poll in the 7th phase of election.
