Former Union Minister and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) politician Mohammad Ali Ashraf Fatmi on Wednesday warned the party if he is not given a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha Polls, he would reveal all the secrets of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
“I have been with Lalu through all the highs and lows since the last 30 years, I’m party to many of his secrets. I have humbly sent my message, If I’m not getting the ticket then I should be told the reason,” Fatmi said.
Fatmi, who won the Darbhanga seat in all Lok Sabha polls since 1991 except on three occasions – 1999, 2009 and 2014, said that he has been with Lalu for 30 years and know many of his secrets.
In 2014 general elections, then BJP candidate Kirti Azad, now in Congress, has defeated Fatmi by securing 3,14,949 votes. Fatmi, on the other hand, had finished runner-up in the constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Kirti’s attempts to contest from Darbhanga seat on Congress symbol has also failed after the seat went to RJD as part of seat-sharing arrangement of Opposition alliance.
March 31, 2019 update:
After denial of ticket, Fatmi called a press conference on Friday and vented ire on the party leadership for offering the seat to another candidate. “My nomination papers for both Darbhanga and Madhubani seats are ready. I am consulting my well-wishers and take a final call on April 3,” Fatmi had said. On Sunday too, Fatmi reiterated his stand.
